InventoriUM - Space for creative play
Žďár nad Sázavou Castle contains a rich historical legacy, which is imprinted on the architecture of the complex. To understand and discover the architecture, shapes, surfaces, colours, lines, curves, symbols, illusions and gravity, it also now offers inventoriUM – space for creative play. It is a place designed for building, assembling, trying variants, thinking, collaborating and inspiring. There is no need to know anything specific or have any specific skills in advance for such play. Just come and get started!

Become an architect and create buildings and vaults
There are lots and lots of boxes in inventoriUM that tempt you to build your own castle, tower, labyrinth or bunker. You can build walls and columns. Special boxes in the shape of wedge-shaped stones allow you to make vaulting from individual segments. During construction, you will discover the barrel arch, which was mainly used in the Romanesque and Renaissance styles, while a pointed arch is typical of the Gothic style. However, the architect Jan Blažej Santini Aichel created his own distinctive style, which came to be known as Baroque Gothic and can be seen in the construction of the nearby pilgrimage church of St. John of Nepomuk on Zelená hora. There are no limits to imagination, you too can become architects. Ideally, visit inventoriUM with your whole family, regardless of age, and enjoy working together. You will certainly need more than your two hands to build the vaults.
Create your own patterns of ornaments or tiling
Various ornaments, patterns and decors can be found on T-shirts, skirts, socks, carpets, vases, bowls and plates, as well as on floors, walls and ceilings or in nature, art, mathematics and geometry. Magnets of several simple geometric shapes are available in inventoriUM to create custom patterns. They are made so that you can combine them in as many ways as possible to create your own mosaics. Alternatively, you can draw inspiration from pentagons in the paving of the pilgrimage church of St. John of Nepomuk on Zelená hora, the paving of the church of the Virgin Mary in Sedlec near Kutná Hora or the stars on the floor of the oval hall in Žďár nad Sázavou Castle. Become a designer, decorator, tiler, restorer, mathematician or geometer!
Discover space through geometry, symmetry and symbolism
The plans for the buildings by the architect Jan Blažej Santini Aichel consist of very sophisticated geometric figures. The sight of them fascinates us. The floor plans combine triangles, squares, circles and stars. In inventoriUM, you can unravel and understand the intricate geometry. Be inspired by the vaulting or floor plan of the pilgrimage church of St. John of Nepomuk on Zelená hora or by the floor plan of St. Vitus’ Cathedral in Hradčany. Alternatively, design your own house, shop, school or church.
