Apartment at the Deer
Another magnificent apartment was created on the grounds of Žďár Castle thanks to long-term cooperation between Countess Marie Kinsky and designer Alexandra Dýcková. The apartment is located near the abbot’s living quarters and is part of the castle grounds.
The inspiration for the apartment’s design was the original function of the place, where the head of the stable and groundskeeper lived. The interior therefore features a horse and keys motif.
The colours in the interior are in natural shades of clay and raw linen. Rough jute rugs and a mixture of antique furnishings complete the interior.
The walls behind the bed in both bedrooms are patinated using a special technique to create the impression of scraped plasterwork and layers of old original paint. The main decoration in the living room is custom wallpaper showing a reproduction of a portrait of a horse, the original of which is located in a corridor in the aristocrats’ academy. The floor tiles refer to the old stone tiles, the style of which freely transitions from tiling in the passage at the entrance to the apartment.
